Canopy: Explainer Video Art Direction

The challenge was to develop a visual approach that made Canopy's digital rental platform feel intuitive, engaging and distinctive while clearly communicating the simplicity of the user experience.

I led the art direction and visual development for this explainer animation, creating the styleframes and storyboard that established the creative direction for the project. Working from Canopy's existing brand guidelines, the objective was to showcase how renters could prove their reliability and move into a property more quickly, presenting the platform in a way that felt both accessible and innovative.

Rather than relying on a conventional flat user interface, I explored a three-dimensional visual environment that allowed the product experience to feel more immersive and dynamic. This approach transformed the platform into a spatial journey, creating greater depth and visual interest while remaining faithful to Canopy's established brand identity. The resulting styleframes demonstrated how the interface, messaging and motion principles could work together to create a cohesive and engaging narrative.

The project highlights how considered art direction can elevate a digital product by rethinking how users experience information, balancing brand consistency with fresh creative thinking to produce a more memorable visual story.
