The challenge was to transform complex data centre software into a visual story that felt technical, engaging and easy to understand.

EkkoSense develops intelligent thermal optimisation software that helps data centres monitor, analyse and improve cooling efficiency. The brief was to create a premium brand film that communicated the sophistication of the platform while making its underlying technology accessible through motion and 3D visualisation.

Working across concept development, styleframes, storyboards and final animation, I explored a number of creative directions before refining the visual approach around the client's preferred aesthetic. While I initially proposed a darker atmospheric route, the final direction embraced a brighter visual style that aligned with the EkkoSense brand while still conveying technical precision.

One of the key creative decisions was to build the animation around a modular floor grid inspired by the software itself. As EkkoSense uses a grid-based system to create virtual data centre environments, I transformed this functional interface into the foundation of the film's visual language which allowed the product to directly influence the creative direction. Using Cinema 4D and the Arnold renderer, I developed a stylised yet realistic 3D environment that balanced technical accuracy with polished, contemporary visuals.

Alongside the hero animation, I also brought the EkkoSense gecko mascot to life through a series of character animations for use on a trade show stand, extending the brand's motion assets beyond the campaign film.
